The Allegoric Hegemony

Children of Earth is probably the best Torchwood piece yet.  And not just for John Barrowman’s nekkid tush.  Goo spewing aliens out to baby snatch a goodly portion of the Earth’s children come to visit.  A British government that wants to cover up past misdeeds targets the Torchwood team to put the group that could help them out of action.  Captain Jack and what’s remaining of the Torchwood crew have to battle threats terrestrial and extra.

In To the Last Man, the Torchwood team thaws out a soldier from World War I, as they apparently do every year, to make sure he’s still in working order because one day they’re going to need him.  And guess what. . . . today’s the day.

Captain Jack is back, but so is Captain John (James Marsters, formerly of “Buffy TVS” fame) a fellow time agent out of Jack’s past.  First they kiss, then they shoot. . . er. . .. guns that is. . . .

Burn Gorman plays Owen Harper in the Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood.  A more adult (though apparently Earthbound) show that deals with the alien threats when the Doctor is not around.  In ”Day One”, Gorman is seduced by an alien that has sex powers.
